THE MIDNIGHT FORGE: Pizzas for New Years

THE MIDNIGHT FORGE: Pizzas for New Years

It's time to ditch the typical lame New Years Eve plans and ring in the new year with some flava. Let's throw it back to the good ole days and rip some pizzas out. If you need some ideas on how to make this the best ever, that's why we're here. Let's grab a cold can and dive in...

Why a Pizza Party?

Because you’re never too old for a Pizza Party. Pizza is universal. It brings people together, it's infinitely customizable, and let's be honest, who doesn't love a good slice? Plus, making your own pizza is fun because you get to roll up your sleeves to make your dream pizza just the way you like it rules are made to be broken, so let's get saucy with it. You love it, and you know it. Your Pizza Party will quickly become a New Year’s Eve tradition too.

Pizza Dough Options for the Backyard Bash

First, you’re going to need to decide on a dough. There are lots of options, some are simple, and some require more commitment. You decide, after all, it’s your party and you can cry if you want to, right? What a great song.

Homemade Dough: Nothing beats the freshness and taste of homemade pizza dough. It's easier than you think and lets you control the thickness and chewiness of the crust. HERE is a killer homemade dough recipe we put together with some homies... THIS recipe is legit.

If this sounds like quite a task or if you're new to the pizza game, here are a few awesome options... trust us. You do NOT need to make your own dough to play the game. Lets roll...

Store-Bought Dough: For convenience without compromising quality, grab a pre-made dough from your local grocery store.

Gluten-Free Options: Don't forget your gluten-sensitive guests. Many stores offer excellent gluten-free pizza bases.

Alternative Bases: Get creative with naan bread, flatbread, or even large portobello mushroom caps for a low-carb option. Click HERE for our own Naan recipe [coming soon].

*PIZZA DOUGH CHEAT CODE: Call up your favorite local pizzeria in the morning and ask them if you can buy some pizza dough. Trust us, this is the cheat code of all cheat codes. We personally do it with a local spot, and it's $5 for enough dough to make 4-6 pizzas. Wild.

Cooking Your Pizza: Grill Slayer Style

First - you DO NOT need a fancy pizza oven. They're dope, but not required.

Conventional Oven: Reliable & Ready. Most accessible for many, preheat your oven to its highest setting, usually 500°F, and use a pizza stone or baking sheet. The downside is it may not achieve the same char as other options.

Outdoor Pizza Oven: Full throttle. These specialty ovens can reach extremely high temperatures, mimicking traditional wood-fired pizza ovens, and provide a fantastic flavor and crust. However, they’re an investment and require practice to perfect, but they’re worth it.

Charcoal Grill: Using a grill provides a delightful smoky flavor reminiscent of a wood-fired oven and can achieve a superb char on the crust. It's also a fun way to cook outside with friends and family. You know your way around the grill, right?

Smoker: For those who love a deep smoky flavor, using a smoker for your pizza can infuse it with an unmistakable barbecue taste. However, it's more about slow cooking, so it might not provide the typical pizza crust texture. For this style, we've found the Naan / Pita bread / flat bread crusts to work the best since you're going to essentially be heating it rather than cooking it.

Ladies and Gentleman... It's Pie Time.

Kick open the door of your topping stockpile bunker and we're ready to rock. Now here’s some great suggestions and recipes to make sure your New Year’s Pizza Bash has everything a Pizza Party should - classics and new creations.

The OG Classics: Plain Cheese and Pepperoni Pizzas

Cheese Pizza: Spread a thin layer of Tacticalories Pie Slayer sauce over your chosen dough. Top with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella and a sprinkle of oregano or Tacticalories Pasta Dust. Bake until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Pepperoni Pizza: Follow the cheese pizza recipe but layer on pepperoni slices before baking for that extra kick of flavor. Bonus points if you give the ‘roni’s a light fry in a pan to crisp them up every so slightly.

The Crowd Pleasers: BBQ & Buffalo Chicken Pizzas

BBQ Chicken Pizza: You’re going to needshredded cooked chicken, your Tacticalories BBQ Sauce of choice, thinly sliced red onions, cilantro, smoked gouda, and mozzarella cheese. Spread the BBQ sauce over your base. Top with chicken, onions, and a blend of gouda and mozzarella. Bake until everything is melted and delicious. Garnish with fresh cilantro.

Buffalo Chicken Pizza: Spread a base of Tacticalories Helldiver Buffalo sauce, add spicy buffalo-coated shredded chicken, and top with mozzarella and blue cheese crumbles. After baking, add a light drizzle of blue cheese or ranch and a sprinkle of green onions.

The Wild Cards: Taco & Breakfast Pizza

Taco Fiesta Pizza: Start with Tacticalories Pie Slayer sauce, add Bad Hombre Taco seasoned ground beef, a blend of cheddar and mozzarella, and jalapeños. Once cooked, top with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and a drizzle of sour cream.
